KAR Global is hiring a Manager of Site Analytics to help build out its site tagging and analytics strategy across all KAR marketplaces.  We are undergoing a massive digital transformation and this position will play a key role in driving product development and marketing decisions to better engage our users.  This role will have a direct impact on thousands of buyers, sellers, users, and customers across North America who use our online platforms every day.  In addition, this role will be a key player at KAR in reporting site activity to the Executive Team.

About Our Candidate:

We are looking for a high-caliber Manager of Site Analytics to drive the strategic site tagging, reporting and governance efforts across all KAR marketplaces, starting with ADESA.com and .ca.  As a Manager of Site Analytics, you will be responsible for working directly with the product and technology teams to understand the current state of site tagging and recommend the optimal strategic path forward.  This includes recommending the optimal technical approach and toolset for tagging (Google, Adobe, Telium, etc) and implementing such toolset across the sites.  This role will also drive the analytical reporting output of the tagging solution in addition to establishing best practices around governance during page development to ensure integrity in our tagging strategy. This candidate will be technical and strategic in nature with a keen business sense.  You will need to leverage your strong collaboration skills when working across product, technology and UX.  You will also know how to distill complex data insights into easy to understand visual stories, reporting back to the management and Executive team levels.  Lastly, the ideal candidate has experience in managing A/B testing frameworks through tag management tools.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

This position will have Site Analytics responsibility for KAR’s online marketplaces in the U.S. and Canada. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define and oversee the creation of a comprehensive site tagging implementation plan in partnership with the Product, Tech, UX teams and external analytics vendor to ensure proper data collection

  • Research and select the optimal site tagging vendor/ tool for KAR’s broad marketplace and key stakeholder needs as defined through technical and business driven Discovery

  • Implement the selection of the optimal site tagging vendor across prioritized KAR marketplaces

  • Working with product and technology, QA, test, troubleshoot site analytics and tags

  • Own management of contracts/ statements of work and budget related to site tagging as well as the day to day vendor communication and management

  • Create reports, dashboards and ad-hoc analysis based on data from various select tag management platforms and/ or other internal/ external data sources

  • Draw actionable insights and “story” from raw Site Analytics data, provide site optimization and user experience recommendations based on the data

  • Create user journey reports on how KAR marketplace visitors flow through the ecosystem

  • Manage regular site scans to identify tagging and site performance issues, working with KAR product, technology and external vendor teams on resolving issues in a timely manner

  • Build and conduct presentations with KAR user insights to share with key stakeholders at all levels of the company

  • Define and own the strategy, development and implementation of a/b and multivariate testing programs to optimize company-wide eCommerce KPIs and improve business outcomes

  • Investigate/ oversee the assessment/ trial of emerging analytics platforms and make recommendations for adoption

  • Manage a team of multiple Site Analysts

 

What You Need to Be Successful:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a Technology discipline; MBA is a plus

  • 5+ years of Analytics experience with responsibility for reporting and analyzing data in a fast-paced business environment

  • 3+ years of eCommerce or web analytics experience, including deep proficiency with at least one major web analytics platform (e.g. Google, Adobe, etc.)

  • General technical understanding of site tagging mechanics and data flow

  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases

  • High attention to detail and quality of analytic outputs

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak the language of technology and business teams

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple layers of an organization from senior leadership to frontline team members

  • Previous management experience in leading multiple teams

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with data warehousing visual reporting tools (Tableau, Sisense, etc)

  • Experience working with tag container tools such as Signal

  • Experience in mobile app site analytic (App Annie, AppDynamics, AppsFlyer, etc)

  • Experience managing A/B testing product development initiatives

  • Strong team builder, proven track record of building teams that love to work together who produce world class results

  • Proactive, organized, focused, and can ruthlessly prioritize

  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the website products and the KAR business

  • Technical background, with experience in software development methodologies like SAFe, Agile, Kanban, & Lean

  • Open to traveling 25% of the time

Our Chicago office is located in River West on the North Branch of the Chicago River. We have free shuttles to major train stations and CTA lines.
