Primary Function: 

A Sr. Reporting Analyst designs, implements and evaluates reporting mechanisms and uses statistical and analytical tools to bring clarity to Grainger Product 
Management business operations. 

Supports product management through the creation and maintenance of ad-hoc tools 
and reports for on demand. 

This role utilizes their proficiency of data & systems to translate requests into accurate 
and useful information that drives improved service and/or reduced costs. 

Continuously looks for ways to improve effectiveness of the department as the 
business strategy evolves. 

Principal Duties & 
Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain accurate tools and reports in a timely, cost-efficient manner and assist our business partners in making informed decisions to effectively manage suppliers, product lines, and daily operations.
  • Collaborate with business partners and cross functional teams to define analytic requirements for ad-hoc tools and reports, and then translate those requirements into a final product that drives improved service and/or reduced costs. . 
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies to proactively identify, recommend, and implement improvements to internal processes and procedures. . 
  • Simplify, enhance, engineer, and re-engineer basic and complex reporting processes. . 
  • Develop advanced knowledge of industry available tools for information and reporting design. . 
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage both business acumen and technical skills to deliver results. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and translate raw data, and then prepare recommendations to solve ambiguous and complex issues. . 
  • Demonstrated detailed understanding of key business strategies and how tools and reports support them. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and convey end user feedback enabling prioritization of enhancements to enterprise systems, tools and reports. . 
  • Coach and mentor end-users and team members on reporting techniques and system usage. 
  • Serve as liaison between end users in Grainger’s Product Management department and Grainger’s Enterprise Systems organization. 
  • .Participate on cross-functional teams and projects where appropriate to ensure Product Management processes, concerns, and business issues are properly addressed for increased productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction/service. 

Preferred 
Education & 
Experience: 

 BA/BS or equivalent preferred.

 5-7 years of experience in related field preferred.

Bachelors Degree with Supply Chain and/or Information Systems focus with a minimum of 5 years related experience in Software / Program development, 
data management and analytic reporting are desired. 

Must have an Advanced knowledge of the concepts and be advanced in the 
use of computerized data management systems including SAP, Business 
Objects, Terdata, Business Warehouse, SQL Server, and SharePoint 
development, design and programming. 

Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access as well 
as VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and other reporting tools and interfaces. 

Strong Business, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Identify problems and determine corrective action. Unique situations and 
concerns must be identified and sound and reasonable solution conveyed to 
appropriate parties in effective and efficient means. 

Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional demeanor at all times 

Ability to foster, manage and leverage relationships across the organization. 

Ability to lead, direct and work cross-functionally in a team environment. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate 
information requests into practical output results. 

Self-directed with accountability to make sound business decisions while 
demonstrating effective time-management and multi-tasking skills. 

This position will be responsible for identifying, understanding, and initiating resolution 
to the problems impacting the systems, tools, and reporting within Product 
Management. It also will work directly with Product Management to identify areas in 
which standardized reporting and analytics will reduce cycle and decision making time 
for the entire department.
