Position Summary

The Tableau Developer will support Direct Commerce Group’s internal and client-facing dashboard deliverables. The role will primarily be involved in building, revising and maintaining Tableau dashboards from client kick off through live client deployment. This role will be work closely with the Database Administrator who is responsible for managing data sources that feed the dashboards and managing the Tableau server where all dashboards live.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build creative and interactive Tableau dashboards that can be used intuitively by internal team members and clients to gain insights that drive strategic decision-making

  • Create and improve reports that give internal team members and clients consistent and reliable insights to help identify issues and quickly take the steps necessary to improve performance

  • Understand DCG’s business processes, including the role that each business unit plays in supporting the company’s ultimate objectives

  • Continually identify new data-based insights that can help support DCG’s processes and improve the internal team and client decision-making processes

  • Deliver on ad-hoc data requests from internal users while building reports and dashboards to help reduce the need for these requests

  • Work in conjunction with the DBA role to compile data from a variety of sources including Excel, SQL Server, and MySQL

  • Implement a full QA process of dashboard functionality and accuracy prior to deployment

  • Troubleshoot errors and bugs prevent dashboards to deliver accurate data

  • Own the requirements and design of new dashboard deliverables

  • Develop visual dashboard mock-ups and interactive prototypes

  • Educate less technical users on complex concepts, tailored to the audience
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or closely related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated hands-on working experience as a Developer/Consultant on Tableau or related data visualization software, specifically focused on the design and development of building Tableau reports, dashboards at varying levels of complexity

  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to assist with gathering and evaluating detailed project requirements

  • Ability to proactively demonstrate new ideas and innovation

  • Excellent technical skills to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment and good communication and interpersonal skills are a must

  • Experience using SQL for building datasets and data validation, and aren’t afraid to go outside of your comfort zone to solve a problem and broaden your skills

  • Passionate about building effective and clean visualizations that deliver impactful information without requiring unnecessary interpretation from the end user

  • Detail-oriented and creative when it comes to improving business processes and reporting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are able to take a complex business request and transform it into a clean, simple data solution

  • Agile mindset and believe in delivering smaller projects more quickly in order to provide value and gain feedback in a production environment

  • Tableau Certified Professional is a plus
