SAVO is looking for a Database Engineer/SQL Developer who will be responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. This individual will collaborate within an agile environment and needs to have a genuine passion for technology and creative problem solving.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain data structures to support new and existing development.
- Administer and manage non Production and Production environments.
- Perform installation, new databases design, configuration, backup, recovery, security upgrade, schema changes, tuning and data integrity.
- Develop strategies and implement solutions for Database Sizing, Query Optimization, Backup and Recovery, installations, upgrades and security including other administrative functions as a part of profiling plan.
- Design and develop stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints to suffice enterprise data needs.
- Design, model and build effective, high-performing relational and document-oriented database systems.
- Perform task related to data retention, migration and deployment of databases.
- Sound knowledge of Data Warehousing best practices and methodology
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
- Profile database resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
- Provide support and maintenance for one or more moderately complex applications.
- Understand and use database schemas, tables, relationships, and constraints
- Work well independently and collaboratively in an Agile environment
- Strong technical abilities and a desire to learn new things
- Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
- Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms
- Install and configure new SQL Servers
- Document the company’s database environment
- Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of database tuning: software configuration, memory usage, data access, data manipulation, SQL, and physical storage.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in Data Management.
- At least 3 years of experience as MySQL DBA/Developer
- Proficient with Unix or Linux
- Must exhibit good time management skills, independent decision making capability; focus on customer service
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Experience
- Application development experience
- Enterprise reporting experience
- Microsoft or other technical certifications
