The design team is a large group of in-house creatives and creative ops professionals who support all the branded creative marketing and merchandising needs for Groupon globally. We work to create a brand people get excited about, for both customers and our clients across the company, through visual design, content marketing, and photos and videos from our in-house studio.
As an Associate Visual Designer, you will focus on supporting other designers and Art Directors on concepting and executing visually engaging and functional digital assets for Groupon’s marketing and merchandising businesses. As an Associate Visual Designers, you are expected to be strong at synthesizing information, troubleshooting and problem solving, and ultimately providing a high-level of execution. In this role, you will gain an understanding of designing for the brand’s purpose, business goals, and customer needs. The Associate Visual Designer will report to the Art Director.

You’ll spend time on the following:
Apply established look, feel, and size for various brand, marketing, and merchandising asset campaigns across web, touch, and mobile
Work within brand guidelines to build layouts that reinforce the Groupon brand style and voice through its visual touchpoints
In addition to standard asset types, design logos, icons, illustrations, infographics, and data visualizations
Work with a global asset library and workflow system to source images and follow a production schedule
Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
Brainstorm and develop clear ideas, concepts, and designs from inception through production
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other designers and copywriters, product managers, marketing managers, and merchandising business lines to create a simple, branded UX
Translate client business requirements, user needs, and technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging
Stay in the loop and on top of the latest standards, changes, trends in visual design field
We’re excited about you if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field required
A solid foundation in typography, layout, and design
Good eye for photography and be able to select photography for campaigns
Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills, along with presentation and negotiation skills
A penchant for details and organization, including the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and meet deadlines
The ability to effectively take direction and work both collaboratively and autonomously
Extensive knowledge of and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator; additional experience with Sketch and HTML preferred
Relevant design experience for websites and ecommerce digital advertising preferred
