Product Design Manager

As a Product Design Manager at Tegus, you are a strategic and operational contributor within the Design organization and Product overall, leading a team solving problems across an entire user’s end-to-end experience. You’ll focus on strategic alignment and ensuring a quality holistic experience by enabling teams to deliver with practices, tools, and coaching. You are persuasive, good with cross-functional relationships and communication, and able to facilitate a range of people to link strategy to day-to-day practicalities.
Responsibilities
- Help formulate the vision and strategy of the teams in your product area while working with leadership to establish over-arching product strategies and process improvements.
- Work with other leaders across design, product, and engineering to drive strategy, process, and align design team objectives and deliverables to the overall strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with your designers to ensure we create consistent and cohesive experiences.
- Inspire, coach, and guide a team of talented designers to continually hone their craft, and deliver experiences that set a high bar for excellence.
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of product designers, pushing the quality of their work, and facilitating their career growth.
- Help elevate and refine our Design practice, culture, and processes to ensure operational efficiency and accountability.
- Serve as both a design advocate and ambassador of the user experience when partnering with key stakeholders and cross-functional collaborators.
- Provide hands-on support in a player/coach role in key initiatives to help shape and guide solutions - contributing to deliverables, as needed.
- Recruit, interview, and hire designers for your team and across the Design org.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of mentoring and coaching junior designers and 5+ years of designing digital products.
- A professional portfolio of product-focused design work demonstrating your intentional design decisions, thoughtfulness of your process, and ability to provide direction.
- Expert proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, and at least one more UX competency: user research, visual design, or service design.
- Expert proficiency using design tools such as Figma, and design systems.
- Strong track record of achieving success at scale in Consumer and/or B2B products.
- Strong strategic and UX systems thinking.
- A sense for process that promotes clarity, predictability, and accountability.
- Ability to lead design conversations within a team or group context, to reason through complex problems and arrive at elegant solutions in a collaborative way. You have the communication skills to help you work cross-functionally with internal partners and external partners alike.
