Mission for the position
As a Product Designer, you'll be part of the original Leap product team. You’ll work closely with leadership, account management, retail operations, engineering, and product management to design and iterate on the products we build. You’ll perform in-depth user research, create user flows and journey maps, create wireframes and prototypes for testing, and advocate data-driven solutions. You will work on products for both internal Leap users and external customers. As an early member of the team, you will help define best practices for design at Leap.

You have:

  • 1+ years experience in a Product Design role
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience, including Web and Mobile UI/UX development
  • Working understanding of how designs are expressed in React 
  • A solid understanding of HTML / CSS / JavaScript
  • Experience designing in browser
  • Experience using design & prototyping tools
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Proven track record in making strategic design and user-experience decisions related to new functions and features
  • Comfortable presenting your designs and key deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively 

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will provide high-fidelity design direction to the product/engineering team
  • You will design responsive web apps for both internal and external users
  • You’ll conduct research with internal and external users, create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and rapidly test and iterate upon your designs.
  • You will deconstruct complex concepts into simple workflows to create an excellent user experience
  • You'll see your designs through from concept to implementation
  • As an integral member of the team, you will be expected to give and receive feedback and you're comfortable explaining the reasoning behind your opinions
  • You’ll navigate through ambiguity to build great products from the ground up

In your first month, you'll:

  • Meet with members of every single team at Leap, and consider their roles and their biggest challenges
  • Work directly with product and engineering to create interactive designs 
  • Create and present wireframes to the development team and stakeholders
  • Sit in on roadmap meetings
  • Start creating a backlog of your own
