The Senior Manager, Experience Design will be a champion of the design process focused on identifying and solving problems with elegant solutions. As part of the leadership team within Experience Design, this role requires a strong skillset between UX and UI. They will strategize solutions across the most complex projects. They have experience in all areas of design – not just focusing on high fidelity deliverables but utilizing customer journey maps, customer touchpoint diagrams, user flows, etc. They actively contribute to maintaining a high standard within the Experience Design team, often creating custom process and artifacts to meet Peapod Digital Lab specific goals.

As a master in their field, they champion thought-leadership throughout the organization. A hands-on work ethic that paves the way for innovation in not only what to make, but how to make it. They are a systems-thinker with the ability to think beyond pixels and design for offline experiences.

Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role

• Lead across multiple complex initiatives — help define strategy, objectives and set the vision for the user experience
• Provide leadership and offer design mentorship across the Experience Design team to help others build towards a meaningful vision efficiently
• Responsible for advancing the craft within the team including shaping team practices, process, and tools 
• Work across multiple teams to ensure consistency across the full customer journey
• Actively helps evangelize and maintain the PDL design system (PLUM) as the only design system throughout the organization
• Partners with the Product Managers, Technologist, Researchers and other Design Managers to define problems & goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch new products and features
• Responsible for distribution of relevant secondary research; ensuring the Experience Design team maintains up to date in an ever-evolving industry
• Able to actively coordinate and conduct generative research in partnership with the UXR team
• Responsible for bringing forward trend analysis across the digital landscape
• Able to lead brainstorm and working sessions in an effective and collaborate manner
• Evangelize the documentation of design specs

The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients

• 7+ years’ experience with end-to-end experience design
• 2+ experience managing a team of designers in a multidisciplinary UX environment, and were responsible for their mentorship and career development

Extra Spices - What you should bring to the table

• Experience in retail/grocery/eCommerce, especially in Cart, Checkout, Account and Customer care 
• areas is highly desirable
• Excellent design skills
• Strong presentation and storytelling skills 
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong information design experience with a solid foundation in UX design heuristics
• Demonstrated ability to help a team navigate ambiguity, set vision and strategy across the full customer journey
• Excellent organization skills a plus
• Knowledge across Product Management skills
