CFX is growing rapidly, and we’re in need of someone to take over all design-related activities for a small but growing collection of end-user-facing products. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer to develop an overarching design vision and see it implemented across a diverse suite of products!

Our primary products include a suite of user-facing investing tools, including a highly technical trading screen (a la bitfinex.com) and several data-entry flows such price quoting, account management, holdings management, etc. We also serve some internal but still very important administrative back-end screens, and will be rolling out some B2B interfaces for partners to manage their client accounts with us, among other things.

Responsibilities and Duties

What You’ll do

• Design a new digital experience for end-user financial tools as well as broker-dealer tools

• Develop UX flows, dashboards, and modern web interfaces that are innovative, intuitive, and meet business objectives

• Demonstrate mastery of core skills such as user experience, project/feature requirements, design conceptualization, wire framing, visual design, and experience audits

• Partner with and lead a number of business stakeholders through brainstorm & prototype sessions, iterating on ideas to build intuitive user experiences

• Quickly develop wireframes, prototypes, and design compositions that express design intent, communicate interaction concepts and help define development requirements

• Work closely with project business subject matter experts and web designers to ensure all business and technical requirements are encompassed in the new system design

• Must demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

• Be passionate about design with an eye for the finest of details

• Set standards and processes to be followed by the team for consistency and for version control

• Follow or create project standards, guidelines, and technical specifications to develop media elements for this business application (graphics, video, interactions)

• Guide usability testing with key stakeholders

• Manage work and adhere to project timelines, budget, quality and delivery deadlines

• Enhance team knowledge of best design practices and trends in digital media

Qualifications and Skills

What we’re looking for in your qualifications

• Degree in digital design or communications (or equivalent work experience)

• Strong design portfolio with 5+ years design and interactive work experience

• Experience collaborating with business architect and key stakeholders to drive the design review cycle and close design requirements

• Fluency in visual design principles for graphics and media for the web

• Understanding of modern web UI capabilities and limitations, especially for solutions built using HTML5 and websockets

• Ability to manage work, adhere to timelines and budget in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to effectively work with a diverse set of stakeholders

• Experience with rapid prototyping and visualization technologies such as Invision or Axure

• A portfolio demonstrating interaction and visual interface design skills is required

• Chicago-based, looking or full-time, in-office commitment
