DevOps Engineer

ParkWhiz’s mission is to bring smiles to drivers around the world by making parking more convenient, efficient, and delightful.
The ParkWhiz mobile and web applications are at the center of our retail strategy — thousands of people rely on the app daily to find and book convenient, economical parking.
We’re looking to add a DevOps Engineer to help build and support the high-scale, mission critical infrastructure needed to support our web, mobile and backend applications, as well as to build and refine the tooling that makes developing, testing, and deploying code fast, easy, and fun for the rest of the engineering team.
What Will I Do?
- Embed with the development teams to encourage best practices for continuous delivery and configuration management and to identify missing tools and automation.
- Improve and implement system and software monitoring, health checks, and logging.
- Create redundancy and automatic failure recovery throughout the infrastructure.
- Set up integration and sandbox environments that remain near approximation of production.
- Work with the engineering and product teams to turn product requirements into software requirements.
What We're Looking For:
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency with AWS and common OSS stacks
- Expert level familiarity with POSIX systems and highly proficient working in shell
- Understanding of capacity planning fast growing systems, and ability to implement automatic scaling where possible
- Familiarity with common tools and technologies necessary for web application development
- Demonstrated capabilities beyond software development: server configuration management, continuous integration, systems administration, API design, database administration
- Strong with one or more languages outside of Ruby
- High standards for product quality
- Desire to use the best tools, work with the best people and create the best software
