Futurehaus seeks a curious & creative entry-to-mid level Digital Designer to join our team. You’ll work with us to ideate & design incredible websites, apps, and annual reports through our human-centered process. This is a contract-to-hire position. At this time, we are only accepting applicants that are able to work in the U.S. as a W-2 employee without sponsorship. No recruiters or outsourcing companies please.

Established in 2010, Futurehaus is a minority-owned design & technology studio that crafts compelling apps, websites, and annual reports with a creative edge for nonprofits, higher ed, and startups. We’re a small yet mighty team of 4 with our sight set on ambitious growth in the next two years. A few notable clients include Braven, Clara Lionel Foundation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Pat Tillman Foundation, and Project CETI.

About the position

Futurehaus provides best-in-class digital strategy that covers branding, marketing, user experience, and visual design. Clients value our collaborative, dependable, trustworthy, and approach to projects.

The ideal candidate is someone who is skilled yet humble, eager to learn, willing to receive feedback with a solution-oriented mindset, and wants to contribute to an inclusive, growing team environment. This role will work closely, learn from, and be mentored by our CEO on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Web/Interaction Design, Visual Communications or equivalent certification(s) or independent learning that can be demonstrated
  • Have at least 1-3 years of industry experience and/or you’ve worked on at least 10 client projects where you applied a range of web design, typography, iconography, color theory, and interaction design skills
  • You are trained in user experience (UX), interface design (UI), and/or interaction design. Experience with human-centered design practices is a plus
  • You can demonstrate experience with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), and Figma
  • You can demonstrate experience with print and graphic design for branding, collateral, and infographics
  • You’re eager to participate in our unique design process to provide deliverables ranging from brand elements to annual reports to full website redesigns, and share your work with clients directly
  • Ability to autonomously manage schedule in a way that ensures all tasks are completed and client-facing time is prioritized
  • Comfortable with fast-paced communication via platforms including Google Workspace and Slack
  • Comfortable with a hybrid remote working environment, which requires you to stay on top of emails, participate in regular weekly check-ins, clearly manage deadlines, and be proactive about asking for help
  • If you are based in Chicago, you’ll be expected to work from our Loop office at least 3 days per week
  • You are curious and open to learn new design techniques, technologies, and skills to adapt to the ever-changing industry

Compensation & Benefits

For the initial contract position, this role offers an hourly rate range from $40 - $50/hr depending on location, skills, and experience for a period of 30 days. Benefits will not be offered during the contract period. You will be expected to sign an Independent Contractor Agreement before starting with us.

This role offers a salary range from $50,000 to $60,000 annually – this varies by location, skills, and experience gauged during our interview process. Futurehaus is a small, yet up & coming firm where you’ll be encouraged to become a multi-disciplinary designer and deeply integrate yourself into our unique, in-house process invented by our CEO.
