Hello, Business Intelligence Developer!        

Our team is growing! Freeosk Inc. is searching for a full-time, Chicago-based BI Developer to join our Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence team to help us manage and utilize our data to build tools for business insights. In this role, you’ll use your expertise in large data manipulation and data mining to design and develop reporting solutions that meet business user requirements. You’ll manage the administration of the reporting environment and have the opportunity to expand our capabilities BI solution and dashboard capabilities into more automated functions.

Our ideal candidate has an understanding of data warehousing and is comfortable handling end-to-end data integration and BI application solutions. We are looking for someone who can synthesize business needs into actionable insights using data while meeting all objectives and requirements. To be successful in this role, you must be a clear communicator with the desire and ability to take initiative to design, develop, and implement best-in-class BI solutions.

Some of the key responsibilities you’ll have include:

• Design and develop business intelligence and reporting solutions by working with business users to establish requirements
• Decompose the business requirements into one or more reusable reports/products
• Develop and implement BI processes, reports and queries in support of business analytics
• Develop and implement interactive analytic reports and dashboards
• Perform tasks and duties related to ad hoc report analysis, design and processing
• Ensure effective communication of user requirements
• Debug, monitor and troubleshoot existing BI solutions and visualizations
• Promote BI solutions/capabilities to the business user community
• Effectively manage and perform administration duties for the reporting environment
• Develop automated BI solutions/dashboards using MySQL and BI Visualizations tools such as Tableau to provide real-time insights to business data

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 2-3 years of experience as a BI Developer or Analyst
• 2-3 years of experience using BI visualization tools and technologies (e.g. Tableau, Pentaho, or similar BI tool)
• 2-3 years working with relational databases (MySQL or similar databases) and SQLs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize daily activities based on project goals established by management
• Proven ability to take initiative and be innovative
• Knowledge of Unix based operating systems a plus
• Knowledge of C#, Java or Ruby a plus
• Understanding of Hadoop Ecosystem a plus
• Experience in working with Java a plus
