The Cloud Engineer will be helping Nerdery’s clients in advising, configuration and implementation of their cloud platforms. In this role, the engineer will have end to end responsibilities on strategy, design, set up and operations of cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
- Work with our clients to design and deliver systems for complex custom projects using the latest cloud platforms
- Creating Cloud Native applications through all phases of the software development lifecycle across several Cloud providers include AWS, Azure, Google, and others
- Ensure proper integration between software applications and infrastructure architecture
- Ensure solutions are maintained for high availability, scalability, security, and supportability
- A client facing specialist focusing on Cloud platform and services implementation
- Travel to the client location as needed
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a clever problem solver with the ability to think on your feet when needed.
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Familiar with Linux command line and continuous integration/continuous delivery processes
- Work with clients to understand business needs and create technical solutions
- Provide technical feedback and leadership to other team members
- Review and intake assets from our partners and provide feedback on the technical implications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- A professional with 5+ years of experience in your primary discipline and demonstrated excellence in your current/previous field.
- Minimum of 2 years of software delivery experience in a DevOps environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with one of more of the following: public cloud, containers, and/or serverless architecture
- Experience with Cloud Native Platforms including Kubernetes, Openshift, Docker Enterprise, or Cloud Foundry
- Consulting/client serving experience
- Microservices, Actor/Reactor, or other Cloud Native experience
- Experience with coding languages such as bash, powershell, or python (open to other scripting languages)
- Experience using cloud platform dashboards as well as “Infrastructure as Code” technologies
- Installation, configuration and development including work within a production environment
- Experience in scalable applications
