Cloud Operations Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated, talented Engineer to join our operations team. As a cloud operations engineer at Narrative Science you will support the infrastructure automation, security, and tooling design and will work closely with our software development teams to design solutions that support continuous integration and deployment. Someone who is passionate about continuous improvement and automation will fit in well with our team.

Responsibilities:

• Improve tooling, processes and infrastructure that support all of Narrative Science
• Identify, design and develop automation solutions to improve security and cloud infrastructure efficiency
• Collaborate with your team in design and code reviews  
• Own critical infrastructure components or systems, and continuously work to improve them
• Dive deep to resolve problems at their root, looking for failure patterns and driving resolution
• Be an ambassador for the team to both our internal and external clients
• Participate in quarterly on-call rotation schedule with all engineers

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional technology experience
• 5+ years in cloud operations, security or related field
• Experience deploying enterprise cloud infrastructure, preferably with Amazon Web Services
• Ability to write clear, concise and tested code
• Experience developing in Linux systems
• Experience working with and debugging web applications
• Proven capability for critical thinking, problem solving and the patience to see hard problems through to the end
