What You’ll Do

The DevOps Engineer is tasked with ensuring an optimal systems environment, and is a key member of the Engineering team. We are looking for an experienced Linux administrator to join our Operations team. The Operations team is responsible for 24/7 monitoring and support of our hardware and software environment. The ideal Development Operations Engineer candidate will have broad experience with Linux administration and will be familiar with many of the technologies used in our infrastructure as described below.

Responsibilities:

• Support, troubleshoot and maintain production in multiple environments
• Advise developers on best practices for infrastructure, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
• Document systems
• Build resilient, stable, high performance distributed systems
• Participate in on-call production support rotation

What You’ll Need

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree/work experience
• Proficiency with most of the following:
• Big Data (hadoop, hive, elasticsearch, storm, kafka, heron, etc)
• Databases (postgresql, mysql)
• AWS (EC2, S3)
• Google Cloud Services
• Networking (Cisco, Dell, firewall rules)
• Monitoring (nagios, graphite, prometheus, or flux)
• SOA (nginx, haproxy, app routing, microservice architecture)
• Systems management (foreman, puppet, or ansible)
• Scripting (bash, python, ruby)
• Container oriented workflows
• Understanding of CI/CD processes
• Firm understanding of scrum and agile processes

Who You Are

• Effective communication with a distributed team via several online and “offline” communication methods
• Open to learn and/or already in possession of the fundamentals in leveraging DevOps, DevSecOps, etc at an institution to help shift to the left
