The Inventory and Shipping team makes it easy for anyone to list, sell, and ship an item on Reverb. The team is responsible for a range of features that remove the uncertainty of selling music gear online, such as pricing guidance, shipping tools, and gear collection management. Our work represents a key pillar of Reverb’s product strategy.
The Director of Engineering will grow our team to enable deeper impact across this space, craft systems that foster the reliable delivery of impactful product improvements, and ensure that your team members are thriving.
You’ll serve as a member of the Engineering leadership team, contribute to the advancement of our department overall, and report to the CTO. This is a full-time role that is open to remote hires within multiple states as well as candidates local to Chicago, IL. Mentor, coach, and grow your team, with a focus on developing future leaders. Cultivate a culture of innovation, enthusiasm, ownership, and customer obsession.
Partner with cross-functional peers to develop the vision, strategy, and goals for your team. Lead your engineering team to develop a technical strategy that supports this long-term direction.
Develop a hiring plan that allows your team to achieve its vision. Prioritize hiring and staffing and attract top talent, helping Reverb get even stronger as we grow.
Ensure your teams have the context, capabilities, rituals and resources to deliver effectively. View your team’s work both from the high level perspective of a senior leader, and, when needed, dive into the details to support high quality decision-making and execution.
Break down barriers for your team and the organization, in particular those that span teams, functions, or departments. Lead engineering-wide initiatives to drive successful outcomes now and over time.
Hands-on coding won’t be a major part of your job, but you’ll build empathy and insights by making occasional technical contributions.
At least 4 years of engineering leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to effectively lead and grow managers and engineers
Track record of hiring top talent in a rapidly growing organization
A history of building highly scaled product experiences, including both “green-field” efforts and optimizations, that solve real customer problems and create measurable business impact
Experience deeply collaborating with product management and design leadership to achieve shared goals
Familiarity with any of the following is a plus: music gear, online marketplaces, e-commerce, third party integrations, or machine learning fundamentals.
