What you'll do
- You will lead a team of iOS and Android mobile engineers where your primary responsibility is providing the technical implementation, deployment and ongoing maintenance of our mobile products. You will define the mobile architecture and implementation strategy for the team, and communicate that effectively to areas of engineering, product and the wider business.
- You will lead the design and development of features or improvements and provide direction to the team, mentoring and educating other engineering staff on the platform and how to use features and services available.
- You will collaborate with the Platform engineering team to design/develop APIs, interfaces and protocols for use by Sittercity mobile products.
- You will ensure software is of a high quality and meets business requirements by writing and maintaining tests, ensuring they are executed and pass consistently during the build process, and monitoring analytics/error reporting/feedback to ensure awareness of overall application stability.
- You will maintain a mobile software delivery pipeline ensuring that Sittercity mobile applications are of a high quality and can be released on an aggressive schedule.
- We believe that collaboration is the key to great software engineering. You will work closely with our product and design teams to keep our fast-paced, iterative agile software development operation humming and producing valuable, high quality applications.
- At all times you will work closely with the Director of Engineering, Head of Technology, and Head of Product to align on the overall technical direction of our mobile applications.
- It will be your responsibility to manage the mobile engineering resource effectively, ensuring the resource allocation is appropriate for the company operational requirements and strategic goals.
We would also like to see the following qualities
- Proven experience building and maintaining consumer mobile applications for either iOS and/or Android devices.
- Experience writing and maintaining production code for iOS or Android in Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin and/or Java.
- Strong design eye for good user experiences and interaction design.
- Experience using Interface Builder and/or Layout Editor building responsive interfaces for multiple screen sizes.
- Experience building and maintaining continuous delivery pipelines for mobile applications.
- Experience integrating with modern APIs.
- Experience working on a lean team and being hands on.
- Experience working with agile software development processes.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to quickly grasp concepts and solve complex problems.
- An intellectual approach to problem solving that welcomes debate and results in the best outcome.
Minimum Experience Required
- 5+ years’ experience in mobile software engineering
- 2+ years of managing engineering teams
- 2 or more published applications in either the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or equivalent
- MSc/MEng or equivalent qualification is a plus
