Director of Quality Assurance
As the Director of Quality Assurance, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for all Quality Assurance teams in the Engineering organization. You will define, develop, and maintain all software QA processes, practices, standards, methodologies, and metrics while working directly with Engineering leadership, product management, and customer support to ensure the quality of software and services. The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills who stays up-to-date with current industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop resource strategies, allocating staff, tools and specialized support as needed to ensure that all testing and deployment commitments are met
- Define and collect fact and data-driven metrics (KPIs) to measure the Engineering organization's success and identify areas for improvement, communicating the results to the executive team
- Lead the design and implementation of testing frameworks, test infrastructure, tools, build and deployment processes
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports. Proactively monitor performance, preparing individuals for growth opportunities and advancement
- Promote cross-functional communication and ensure adequate information flow within the organization
- Oversee the recruitment and talent identification process for the QA team
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Excellent at leading, making decisions, and organizing work for a team of senior quality assurance engineers and managers for both local and remote teams
- Experience with implementation of various industry standard testing methodologies, test planning, test automation tools and techniques
- Solid knowledge of testing techniques to determine appropriate number of test iterations and applying risk-based testing concepts
- Experience defining QA strategy and leading the implementation of QA practices within a Software Engineering organization
- Demonstrated project management skills with a history of managing multiple projects in parallel
- Solid understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC)
- 5+ years managing software quality assurance or software development teams
- 8+ years SQA/SQE experience
- BS or MS in Computer Science or other related field
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
- Deep level of understanding of Microsoft Office and Windows
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Experience with Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CICD)
- Applicable certification(s): CSQE, CTAL- TA, CTAL-TTA, PMP
