Full Stack Programmer
NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Programmer who is a passionate problem solver, enjoys working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and open to learning new technologies and/or programming languages. The Programmer I is an ideal position for someone who enjoys coding. The Programmer I will be expected to fix issues in a timely manner.
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
NORC's Information Technology program provides technology services to our staff and clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tier 2 Production Support Duties
- Debug, code, and unit-test fixes to production issues
- Detect trends and patterns in support issues that indicate a need for code revision
- Work across several systems to resolve issues
- Work closely and be mentored by a lead or senior engineer
- Web Development Duties
- Participate in architecture and design sessions
- Assist in the design and development of new web applications
- Support and expand existing web applications
- Full stack development, back-end; Java, Hibernate, Spring MCV, SQL
- Full stack development, front-end; JSP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 0-2 years of experience
- Knowledge of Java, SQL/SQL Server, HTML/CSS, JavaScript
- Past production support experience and/or sense of urgency in resolving issues
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with end-users or non-technical users
- Python, Django, .NET/C#, PostgreSQL DB experience preferred
- Apache, DHTML, AJAX, jQuery, Hibernate, Spring preferred
- Familiarity with survey or market research preferred
