SPINS, a Chicago-based SaaS company, is seeking to hire a Head of Engineering.

By leveraging SPINS’ industry-leading proprietary data and analytics, our technology enables deeper, more engaged relationships between Retailers, Brands and Consumers through our platform, web, and mobile products.

We are searching for an individual that has experience as the leader of engineering teams of serving SaaS, B2B, or consumer online products.

The right candidate will support the engineering team by doing the following:

• Scaling and continuing to grow the engineering team providing the best solutions in the grocery innovation space
• Playing an active role in getting a project to a healthier place when not healthy
• Herding some brilliant cats
• Ensure quality and best practices across all projects
• Know the difference between Agile, FrAgile, and quasi-Agile-quackery
• Know what it means to ship. Know the difference between CI and CD.
• Have a sense of bus count, YAGNI, DRY, and when they can be misapplied
• Develop and maintain a healthy team by ensuring to
• Identify and support career development opportunities
• Advise Product when something smells wrong
• Know strengths and weaknesses of each team member
• Partner with Product to ensure the right products are built the right way
• Reach out and represent SPINS to relevant communities and lead the conversation around our ideas and practices via blog posts, meetups, and/or conferences.

YOU PROBABLY HAVE...

• Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence internal and potentially external stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact, communicate and build relationships with CxO level personnel
• Must be effective working independently and in a team setting
• Organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands
• Previous experience running a consulting business and working directly with products or services in a delivery role specifically with a PM/Design/Engineering background
• BS/BA Degree in Business, Marketing or Information Technology (or related degree) or the equivalent
• 10+ years managing engineers
