Job Summary

The Systems Administrator will work as part of a small team to manage a Microsoft-based corporate network, including all servers, workstations and laptops, networks, connectivity and end user support. Will be responsible for the planning and execution of upgrades, installations, monitoring, management tools, security practices, capacity planning and overall corporate architecture. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for daily monitoring & maintenance of corporate servers, backups, managing an inventory database (hardware and software assets), and assisting in the monitoring and maintenance of our co-location facility. The Systems Administrator contributes organizational skills, best practices for network management, analytical thought, and creative energy.

This role will report to the Manager of IT and be based at our corporate headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Responsibilities and Duties

As the Systems Administrator, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • • Manage the corporate network including servers and workstations.

    • Manage corporate active directory environments.

    • Manage server policies and login scripts.

    • Monitoring the servers for hardware/software performance issues.

    • Plan and coordinate upgrades, patches and new corporate technologies.

    • Maintain an inventory of hardware and software.

    • Monitor daily and weekly backups.

    • Manage antivirus installations and scanning.

    • Assist in the management of the co-location environment.

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Skills

  • 1-2 years experience preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree and/or Certifications are a plus
  • Active directory design and management skills.
  • Experience with setting up Microsoft based systems, support mechanisms, and architectures.
  • Experience with IIS 7.x
  • Experience with web farming and load balancing.
  • Experience with HYPER-V.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and server tuning for security and performance.
  • Experience with server auditing.
  • Server support skills for Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
  • Solid network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Desktop deployment and support skills for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
  • Exchange Server integration and management.
  • Familiarity with Sever Core installation and management.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server 2008 R2 - 2017.
  • Familiarity with network and endpoint monitoring software (Kaseya).
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (Appassure/Quest).
  • Familiarity with routers, firewalls, wireless access points and managed switches.
  • File server maintenance and management of shares and quotas.
  • Printer management and troubleshooting skills.

Non-Technical Skills:

  • Excellent project planning and delivery skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate status of tasks (progress and milestones).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage overall workload.
  • Must be comfortable working in a small, fast moving environment and willing to step up and take responsibility for their deliverables.
  • A self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have keen attention to detail and quality of work
  • Effective organization skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse group of perspectives
  • Strong customer service orientation
