Job title:  Lead Application Developer
Reports to:  Chief Technology Officer
Location:  Chicago, IL (4525 N. Ravenswood)

Regroup is seeking a Lead Application Developer to join our growing technology team to help create and improve our critical business technology infrastructure.


Responsibilities:

Requirements Analysis and Technical Design

  • Collaborate with the CTO and company leadership to understand the operational challenges, problems, and opportunities prioritized by the business.  

  • Work with the CTO to design technology solutions that extend, integrate, and improve our back-office systems that achieve critical business goals.

  • Recommend technologies to deploy, weighing long term vision with short term delivery needs.

Execution, Delivery, Operations

  • Create and improve infrastructure tools that help automate and enable our operational processes. This will involve building, integrating and extending a variety of platforms, including custom web-apps, ERP platforms such as NetSuite, BI systems, and cloud SaaS services such as Airtable, GSuite, etc.

  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; following an agile, iterative development lifecycle.

  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code; demonstrate sprint work

  • Test, maintain high quality, and adhere to compliance standards and/or gain compliance certifications (e.g. HIPAA, HITRUST)

  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals

  • Be a persistent, creative problem ­solver

Qualifications:

  • 5 years+ of modern web application development experience

  • Self-starter with ability to wear many hats through the development lifecycle, including developing requirements, collaborating with business stakeholders, setting technology direction and design, writing code, testing, and deployment

  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage work, meet deadlines, and report on status

  • Ability to work in a high paced environment

  • Experience using well-known MVC frameworks such as Rails or Laravel

  • Experience building UI/UX using the dominant HTML/CSS/JS frameworks

  • Solid experience developing and using APIs and web services

  • Comfortable designing data models and creating queries for SQL-based storage engines

  • Confident at the command-line, familiar with building personal development environments including basic server configuration

  • Ability to use modern development workflow practices including using workflow tools such as bower, grunt, gulp and git

  • Comfortable working with agile development methodologies

  • Bachelors in engineering-related field or equivalent work experience

Ideal to have:

  • Experience with NetSuite and its development toolchain a significant plus.

  • Experience with large datasets and data analysis tools.

  • Experience in healthcare tech and HIPAA security and privacy.

  • Strong ability to work with product and business teams to gather and document design requirements.

  • An interest in behavioral health and/or telemedicine
