About Stride Consulting

We build custom software for companies like Spotify, Codecademy, and Casper! 

Stride Consulting is the missing piece of the puzzle that combines deep technical expertise with the ability to feel deeply and passionately about human experience. The positions are remote until it is safe to open a physical space in the fall, and will be work-from-home-friendly when the office space opens.

The Role

  • Lead and organize large engagements while empowering team members to explore their own consulting practice. Responsible for coaching teams that you lead while simultaneously fostering a cohesive culture aimed at driving towards shared outcomes. Ensure the team shares a vision of good agile practice.
  • Level up fellow consultants through guided feedback and shared responsibility for success. Allow opportunities for team members to learn from failure, helping them find their strength through challenges while ensuring engagement success.
  • Liaise with high-level client stakeholders. Establish and maintain relationships to build trust and partnership between the engagement team and client organization.
  • Develop a coherent strategy that keeps the team and project on a successful path. Able to pivot and adjust strategy as new information and ideas rise to the surface. Ensure that all team members feel that they have a voice.
  • Align engagement team success and client business goals -- by knowing how and when to strive for consensus to do what is right for the client’s needs and long-term success.
  • Achieve business goals while maintaining flexibility by managing scope and focusing the team’s efforts on the simplest possible solution.

You’re a fit for Stride if you have

  • 7+ total years of experience 
    • In one or more of the following paradigms and architectural patterns: Object-Oriented Programming, Functional Programming, Microservice Architecture, Domain-Driven Design
    • In one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby
    • Writing clean and tested code. Using best testing practices, such as Test Driven Development, utilizing the testing pyramid
  • 3+ years experience spent in technical consulting for companies at various stages of growth ranging from startups to enterprise clients, with an understanding of how challenges and best practices differ in different contexts.
  • Able to adapt to different contexts and ways of working while identifying and applying appropriate processes (drawing on DevOps, XP, scrum, lean) to augment and improve the team
  • Experience building partnerships between consulting teams and client stakeholders. 
  • Proven ability to level up teams through coaching and mentorship

Location

Having been local to New York City for the first eight years, we are thrilled to be expanding to Chicago and will be opening a satellite office soon!
