We’re looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to lead our mobile team in expanding, improving, and modernizing our iOS app. The right candidate lives and breathes iOS development and is an expert advisor on the platform and it’s best practices, conventions, new and upcoming tools and technologies, and overall trends in mobile application development.

Essential skills

  • Strong proficiency with Swift, Objective-C, and the iOS frameworks
  • Experience leading and managing a team of engineers in the architecture and development of a consumer focused mobile application
  • Strong understanding of and ability to utilize object-oriented design patterns
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations
  • Can write effective unit tests; can utilize TDD/BDD techniques
  • Ability to communicate complex technical problems to both technical and business audiences
  • Experience with consuming API resources over the Web
  • BS or above in Computer Science

Your typical day

  • Develop new features for our consumer-facing mobile apps
  • Monitor app performance using monitoring tools; prioritize and fix crashes and bugs as they are found and reported through various channels
  • Lead the code review process; give and accept constructive feedback
  • Assess analytics results (and add new analytics when needed) to identify UX issues, A/B test UI changes, and generally iterate our way to a better user experience
  • Walk a block with colleagues to grab a rich and delicious Dark Matter coffee
  • Collaborate with the product team to conceive new features and refine existing ones. Identify iOS features that can be used to improve our products.
  • Experiment with new hardware: in-dash systems, BLE beacons, parking access controls, etc.
  • Prepare releases for the App Store and work with QA to coordinate pre-release testing
  • Take on R&D projects to evaluate new iOS features and third-party services
