About the Position

Today’s banking customers want and expect a great mobile experience. This position will help deliver it. You would work in conjunction with Chris, our designer, and Elijah and Matt, our other software engineers to iterate on new features and launch them to our customers.

We use React Native with some Swift code where needed. We currently only support iOS and will likely add Android in 3 to 6 months. The backend is a node.js REST API with some data communication over sockets. Given we are a small team, there is a possibility to also work across our entire technology stack, depending on your skills and interests. The role is for intermediate and above level individuals.

The ideal candidate has experience working professionally with React Native, can contribute in high level software architecture discussions, has a genuine interest in personal finance, and has a passion for improvement. As an engineering team and the company in general, we care about code quality and getting it right the first time.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and launch new versions of the Medean iOS application

• Provide key technology advice and architectural input for Medean’s technology platform

• Translate UI/UX wireframes and design files into code and fully functioning web applications

• Work with designers to refine and adjust UI designs while considering user needs, technical limitations, time to implement, and other factors

• Keep up-to-date on mobile development best practices and updates, ensuring the company utilizes the latest frameworks and makes important technical transformations as needed

• Maintain clear and focused communication on software development progress, challenges, and technical debts incurred

Qualifications

• At least four years of professional software development experience

• At least one year of React Native experience in a professional environment

• Deep understanding of Redux and Redux Saga usage within a React Native project

• Knowledge and experience with modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS

• Experience defining and implementing front end test strategies, including unit, integration, and e2e tests

• Dependable and community oriented individual who is a proactive and positive thinker

• Focused and clear communicator who values collaboration, transparency, and accountability

• Desired but not required, financial technology experience

• Desired but not required, previous startup experience

• Desired but not required, previous d3.js experience

• Desired but not required, experience mentoring other developers and operating in a team lead role
