Position Overview

The Manager, Platform Development will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of Legacy’s platform development initiatives.  This includes writing and decomposing Epic-sized user stories into deliverable pieces of work with a development team, prioritizing and sequencing development activities to ensure optimal delivery, and documenting and communicating changes to the Legacy Platform to the broader business. In addition, the Manager, Platform Developmennt works closely with all cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, and Customer Support to manage key initiatives to ensure that all project objectives are understood, defined, and executed successfully. 

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate story writing and requirements definition with a development team to ensure software development activities align to business objectives
  • Act as Product Owner on an Agile sprint team, making decisions and calls about priority and sequencing
  • Execute UAT on individual user stories to ensure requirements are met and guard against disruptive edge cases
  • Manage and prioritize a backlog based on input and objectives from the Product team and leadership
  • Gather requirements and define solutions through research and analysis of existing systems and workflows, as well as conversation with subject matter experts
  • Document changes and communicate new and modified workflows to affected parties to ensure optimal adoption and rollout of new features

90-Day Goals

  • Take over day-to-day management of a sprint team
  • Manage and update roadmap to reflect reality of development activities against business priorities
  • Decompose business objectives around new front end experiences, B2B and B2C initiatives, and other projects into development activities
  • Act as the Product Owner for development team to ensure technical work is being built for scale

Required Skills

  • Effective technology literacy skills including familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and SQL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Experience in digital project management, product development, software engineering, Agile, and change management
  • Excellent process-driven mindset, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities and attention to detail to produce high quality of work.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and acting as an Agile Product Owner.
