Job Description: Mendix Developer Technology Consultant

Team : Alternative Assets

Northern Trust is looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to join our Alternative Asset Technology application development team. This individual as part of an Agile development team, will be responsible for developing applications with group of like-minded technologists. The C&IS Technology Department is looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, nimble, and pragmatic individual with a digital mind-set to join our team as a Software Development Engineer.

What You Will Do:

The Alternative Assets team is currently looking to fill an exciting Developer position at our Chicago office.This job will involve learning the next generation of Model Driven Delivery platforms used to develop critical business/enterprise class applications. A successful Mendix Developer on the Alternative Assets team will work closely with the product owners, other developers, and internal users to develop solutions -- designing, building, testing, and deploying -- using Mendix and the Cloud platform to provide meaningful business value in the Alternative Assets space to both our internal and external clients.This position requires a strong desire and ability to understand the business goals that drive our solution requirements and the ability to learn and use a new platform and delivery methodology. Experience within the financial space is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that assigned tasks are developed to meet our quality goals and are completed within established timelines and budgets
  • Work directly with Business Analyst Team, Data Analyst Team, Internal and External clients to understand the business requirements
  • Create Mendix Business Models and Applications
  • Identify and troubleshoot application quality and performance concerns
  • Incorporate testing and QA of functionality prior to delivery
  • Work with other sprint team members and management team to facilitate delivery of project goals
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks, issues and other problems and report status to the management team
  • Debug, monitor, troubleshoot solutions and recommend other solutions for optimizations
  • Document technical specifications
  • Continue to find new and exciting ways to present information such that it can be acted upon within the operational teams

Skills / Attributes Required • 3-5 years' Experience in Development using, Java, C++, C#, Python, Ruby, PHP or JavaScript • 2-3 years' Experience with front-end applications such as Angular, React or any other tools • Manage multiple priorities and ensure team deliveries in a dynamic environment • Design and Develop Workflows and manipulating front end data • Strong communication (oral and written) skills Familiarity with MDD platforms like Mendix is a plus • Experience working as a developer in an Agile Project using Scrum is a plus
