The company offers a suite of interconnected products and services designed to grow online vacation rental businesses for resorts, professional vacation rental managers, innkeepers, and individual homeowners. The VacayHome Connect team is dedicated to bridging the gap between consumers and vacation rental accommodations.

We are looking to grow our team to help build out a new platform that automates and optimizes many of the features and functions our company needs to run the business.   This is an opportunity to get in on the build out at an early stage and truly help influence the path we take.

Principal Objective

We are seeking a Software engineer with strong Java/Python experience to play a key role in creating a platform and core features for our global vacation rental platform. Our ideal candidate has experience with or interest in the travel industry and can help drive the build out of our backend platform’s API endpoints to collect and send dynamic data. We are building a content management system and booking engine that will optimize the processing of vacation rentals. We value creativity, critical reasoning, code quality, and collaboration.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Produce clean, maintainable code artifacts along with feature and unit tests while working well within a team of developers. Requires Python/Postgres/AWS.
• Actively engage in and contribute to development & support activities.
• Contribute to architecture & technical design of our platform including microservices, data architecture, and logging frameworks.
• Collaborate with teammates on helping define & incorporate best practices, standards and improving operational aspects of the system.
• Prescribe best practices associated with implementing and deploying applications.
• Participate in and contribute to Agile team ceremonies including daily standups, backlog grooming, retrospectives, sprint planning, system demos, code reviews

Required Qualifications

• A BS degree in Computer Science or other related fields or equivalent job experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing in either Java or Python.
• Minimum 2 years of experience writing and using API’s/microservices.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc).
• Understanding of versioning control systems (Git)
• Excellent communication & collaborative mindset – must be able to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with your peers
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
• Humble and confident

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Data Architecture.
• Experience working in an Agile environment, including grooming, kanban/sprints, retrospectives and other ceremonies.
• Strong collaboration skills working within a team size of 3-10 members.
• Ability to challenge the norm and come up with unique ideas
