Northern Trust is looking for a technically savvy and seasoned Full Stack Engineering to help lead Entitlements in defining and delivering innovative, leading edge, cost-effective technology solutions to progress their strategy.

This role would have the opportunity to work with some of the latest technologies and methodologies, have excellent exposure to highly experienced and tech savvy resources, and collaborate with multiple application teams, vendors, and business partners around the globe. This position will be responsible for working closely with Senior Entitlement Technology, Practice, and Product leaders to understand the business and technical goals; help define solutions, target technologies and designs, and high level roadmaps to achieve these goals; and ensure day to day design decisions across Entitlement Technology Teams and projects align to the enterprise and business strategies and objectives.

Job Description AND Principal Responsibilities

  • The position will work closely with some highly experienced and tech savvy resources & collaborate with multiple application teams/business partners around the globe.
  • Review complex requirements/JIRA stories and translate into effective, efficient, high performing solutions that leverage fit for purpose patterns and technologies.
  • Create Design documents, technical specifications incorporating input and direction from Solutions Architects
  • Work with Architects to define flow and structure of data, consumed from APIs and external data sources.
  • Review design, code of more junior developers to ensure quality outcomes
  • Mentor and provide knowledge shares for more junior developers, to upskill team capabilities
  • Assist support teams in understanding the modules created and document support procedures where necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience with various development methodologies, such as Agile/Lean, Scrum, Incremental, Rapid Application Development, Waterfall, etc.
  • Articulate and effective communicator, able to influence others through sound judgment and good sense, using both technical and business user friendly language.
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience ensuring application security and quality through the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) and leveraging static analysis tools such as, SonarQube/Checkmarx/Appspider/CAST AIP

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in IT industry

Required Skills:

  • Understands and experience with majority of application development & technology stack:
    • DevOps and Continuous Integration - Atlassian Bamboo, Maven or Gradle or similar tools; Rest API Development
    • Spring Framework, including Spring Security
    • Spring Integration
    • Spring Boot/Cloud
    • Google Analytics
    • Quartz, Spring Batch
    • Messaging: Kafka, Solace, MQ
    • PL/SQL, Redis, NoSQL - Marklogic, SOLR, etc.
    • REACT, Angular, JQuery
    • Java, J2SE, Java Serve Pages, XML/XSLT, JSON
    • JSON, AJAX, JDBC, JPA/ORM framework
    • Kubernetes
    • API gateway/ZUUL
  • Understands cloud architectures as well 12 factor application development
  • Experience working with the React framework, Redux and supporting middleware
  • Experience designing highly scalable, highly available, and highly performant applications
  • Experience defining design standards and best practices
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry

Preferred/ Recommended Skills:

  • Understanding of BaNCS or IM Actions platforms.
  • Understanding of ISO 20022 SWIFT message processing.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Actions, Income and/or Tax processing.
