WHAT DO WE NEED?

Our Information Technology and Operations Practice create solutions that cover the entire lifecycle of information utilization, from ideation through implementation. The Quality Assurance Engineer executes the quality assurance strategy for our IT organization, assists in establishing the policies and tools to enable achievement of QA goals and performs test activities to deliver upon prioritized initiatives to ensure success.

This role is accountable for continuous assessment of the quality of SPINS work products, data and the definition and maintenance of quality standards. The scope encompasses effective coordination and execution of testing associated with IT projects, as well as regression and performance testing programs for strategic solutions.This position reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance and will be based locally to SPINS Corporate Headquarters.

WE'LL BE COUNTING ON YOU FOR...

You'll be working as part of an Agile team to deliver reliable and scalable software components and you'll be responsible for Quality Assurance deliverables including thoughtful development of test strategies, test scenarios and test cases for all phases of testing. You'll own and deliver innovative solutions for automated testing strategies and define, build, and execute automated data validation scripts for big data processing pipelines such as Spark or Hadoop. In addition, you'll write functional tests using test automation frameworks and build automation tests from business requirements and acceptance critera. You'll be responsible for evaluating documentation to ensure adherence to QA methodology and standards, as well as ensuring a smooth integration and/or rollout of IT systems into the operational environment by coordinating closely with the affected functional and technical teams. Finally, you'll work closely with the QA Manager to identify opportunities to enhance test efficiency and implement automation processes. 

YOU PROBABLY HAVE...

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area.
• 4+ years’ QA/Testing experience in IT with a proven track record.
• 2+ years’ experience in building Test automation frameworks.
• 3+years’ working knowledge of automation test technologies such as Cucumber, Selenium and Karate.
• 2+years’ experience in building and executing Automation scripts and is proficient in one or more common scripting languages (e.g. Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, or Bourne Shell).
• 3+ years’ experience working in Unix or Linux environment.
• 2+ years’ experience with REST API and web services testing.
• 2+ years’ experience in Database testing and expert knowledge in SQL queries.
• 2+ years’ hands on experience and knowledge in testing Big Data applications and distributed systems such as Hadoop.
• 1+ years’ experience in performance testing (e.g. with JMeter, Load UI).
• Exposure to Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Knowledgeable in formalized QA/Testing strategy, processes, methodologies, and standards
• Strong communication skills
• Familiar with Agile frameworks and testing process implications.
• Solid understanding of application/software lifecycle and quality assurance processes and tools.
• Must adhere to established timelines and have a strong focus on ensuring all deadline dates are met.
• Able to clearly articulate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision making skills.
