We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Sr. Software Engineer. The Sr. Software Engineer provides technical leadership in design, development, deployment, and support for Caterpillar's state-of-the-art digital platform. This position will build world class capabilities to support a wide range of digital applications while delivering against the common department goals in line with CAT Digital Strategy

JOB DUTIES:
This role acts as an analytics developer in an implementation role. The incumbent will use proven technical skills to implement analytics code and tracking solutions. In this role, you will work closely with Product Owner, Team Lead, Engineering and Development teams, as well as other teams, in the deployment of digital analytics tags and tools related to Google Analytics. Other responsibilities include:
Develop, document, implement, customize, and troubleshoot analytics code in complex environments with the heavy use of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS Recommend and implement analytics tracking code needed for ongoing reporting and analysis activities; perform quality assurance to ensure tagging is working as planned and identify any issues or gaps Understand client measurement/design requirements and translate these business requirements into a documented technical implementation guide or solution design document Provide best practices information to dev teams and business units teams in implementing their Google Analytics, 3rd party tags, and technical tracking implementation needs Project manage multiple client requests and project activities at any one time
The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the incumbent normally works within a team environment.
Typical customers include Caterpillar customers, dealers, other external companies who purchase services offered by Caterpillar as well as internal business unit and/or service center groups. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. The position participates in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to meeting quality goals in the measure(s) stated.
Basic Qualifications:

• Position requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, analytics, statistics, marketing, or other related field.
• 3+ years experience implementing Google Analytics 360 or GA4 via Google Tag Manager
• 2+ years Providing instruction on campaign tagging and additional on-site tracking to dev teams and business partners
• Strong technical skills; working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, browser functionality, and other common web technologies
• Google Analytics Individual Qualification
• Experience producing analytics audits and reporting for advanced tracked website and apps via Google Analytics and related visualization and reporting tools
• Ability to perform ad-hoc analytics for clients including documenting, and presentation to business partners
• Experience with A/B Testing platforms (Google Optimize)
• Knowledge of/experience with Azure Dev Ops
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

• A self-starter with the ability to take ownership of tasks and drive projects through to completion
• Experience with Tier 1 - Tier 3 support teams
