Overgrad is a web platform that enables high school students to set college and career goals. The platform provides guidance on how to achieve their post high school goals and connects each student with employers and post-secondary institutions. Role
Overgrad is making its first engineering hires to help shape the future of our product and engineering team. As one of the first couple engineers, you’ll have an input on all parts of the codebase and features that we build. You’ll work alongside our CTO to plan, prioritize, and develop new features. Your contributions will be instrumental to the success of Overgrad and will impact thousands of students accross the country.
Job Duties
- Tackle a wide variety of technical problems throughout the stack and contribute daily to all parts of our code base
- Work with our sales team to understand customer pain points, then devise and build solutions
- Thoroughly evaluate edge cases, ambiguities, and architectural scalability
- Design and write well-structured, easily maintainable, tested code
- Support and maintain existing systems through bug fixes, library upgrades, etc.
- Play an active role in shaping our engineering and company culture
Experience & Skills
- Ability to work anywhere in the stack, delivering quality code backend and frontend
- Experience building, scaling, and maintaining production web applications
- Experience with unit and integration test frameworks such as RSpec or Capybara
- Proficiency using HTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX
- Passion for creating great user experiences
- Comfortable in fast-paced environments with quick iterations and frequent deployments
- Strong ability to read and understand code you didn’t write
- Strong communication skills, ability to express technical concepts in verbal and written form
- Ability to own what you are building and see it through from end to end with minimal guidance
