Job Description

As our Test Engineer, you will work with product delivery teams testing newly developed software while identifying risks along the way. This could be through large new features or smaller bug fixes. You will be challenged through critical thinking and problem solving as you investigate the software through exploratory testing. You should be able to contribute to the sprint planning meeting by locating high areas of risks. To thrive in this role, you must have strong personal management skills, good written communication skills, a good personality, a team-player mentality, and represent a strong sense of ownership.

In this role, we'll want you to:

• Work autonomously to effectively test features and document test results in an Agile environment
• Collaborate with team members to quickly deliver customer value and learn from customer feedback
• Come up with creative and innovative solutions to complex testing problems
• Evaluate and help define acceptance criteria for user stories
• Contribute to and maintain existing automation tests and frameworks
• Analyze and break down large user stories into smaller, more testable ones
• Effectively plan for all testing activities required for the selected user stories each sprint
• Develop effective testing strategy and execute exploratory tests based on acceptance criteria
• Develop and maintain manual test cases or documentation for complex testing scenarios
• Assist with building and maintaining testing environments
• Attend project meetings and provide technical expertise as required
• Identify and communicate obstacles
• Become a subject matter expert on the products you test
• Research new testing technologies and tools

Qualifications

• 3 – 7 years of experience working with software in a professional environment
• Willingness to learn
• Friendly attitude and collaborative spirit
• Strong passion for quality and excellence
• Strong understanding of how websites and APIs work
• Highly organized, methodical, terrific problem solver, and a great communicator
• Passionate about software and technology
• Skilled at finding defects!

Preferred Skills:

• Experience testing web-based applications
• Experience testing mobile applications
• Experience contributing to test automation suiite
• Proven experience with automated test tools and scripting languages
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Ruby
• Experience working on Agile teams using Scrum
• Advanced knowledge and experience with SQL
• Knowledge and experience with AWS
• Experience with PHP or Javascript
• Experience with Session-Based or Exploratory Testing techniques
• Experience with performance, load, and stress testing
