Job Description

The Sr Software Engineer - RPG is a hands on design and development position supporting JD Edwards world and custom applications on iSeries/IBMi using RPG & SQL on DB2. The key individual will also support the integration to the emerging e-commerce and ERP platforms.

What you will contribute:

  • Participate in the analysis, design, implementation and support of FTD's internal applications and its commercial software for florists and florist impacted businesses.
  • Responsible and accountable for the quality and cohesion of solution architecture components within custom applications, JD Edwards and iSeries/IBMi framework and alignment with the future-state ERP
  • Serve as an architect providing direction and guidance to the ERP development team, iSeries/IBMi administrators and ensure appropriate integration with partnering technologies. (Maxava, Patrick Townsend, Cloud & etc.)
  • Lead technical architecture and design reviews and technical signoff at both design and development phases of projects
  • Define standards and guidelines, aligning solutions to the e-commerce application architecture.
  • Facilitate the discussions related to process changes, impacts and potentially new functionality.
  • Think creatively and understand complex and interconnected processes and systems.
  • Serve as technical lead for proof of concept/pilot projects to research how specific technologies can be incorporated

What we seek

  • Minimum 5 years iSeries/IBMi development experience
  • Minimum 3 years JDE experience, including Admin functions
  • RPG -- Free, LE, and III
  • CL and CLLE
  • SQL -- highly proficient, including performance analysis and tuning
  • DB2/400 -- including triggers and SQL views
  • Stored Procedures
  • Credit card encryption and tokenization
  • Prior experience as a Dev team lead
  • Managed, or at least worked within, an IBMi Waterfall SDLC environment
  • Proponent of the use of modules and in-house developed functions
  • Developed and implemented programming standards
  • Performed/managed Code Reviews
  • Use/administration of MKS Implementer
  • Able to work with a custom, proprietary development framework
  • Patrick Townsend security, encryption, and secure FTP tools
  • Showcase Query
  • DR Replication software -- MaxAva, MIMIX, etc.
  • EDI applications
  • IB I API's and webServices
