The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing subject matter expertise for multiple Microsoft Windows Server based technologies including Window Server OS, Citrix, Active Directory, SQL Server, VMWARE virtualization and other Windows based infrastructure solutions. In addition to ensuring systems are highly available and providing senior level support, the Senior Systems Engineer will also act as the senior technical resource mentoring other Systems Engineers.
This role requires interaction with a cross-functional team of technology and business professionals including infrastructure, application development, security, business & 3rd party subject matter experts to ensure that servers are maintained in accordance with data security standards, business requirements and business service level agreements. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide support to ensure the servers both physical and virtual are running properly and take the appropriate actions to restore service when needed and determine the root cause to prevent recurrences of the same issue. Lead and manage the onboarding of new systems and environments with occasional out of hours and weekend work.
Area of Responsibility:

  • Responsible for leading the support of the Windows Server Operating System and associated Windows based technologies including Active Directory, and Citrix.
  • Responsible for leading the support of the VMWARE ESXi host and virtual server environments.
  • Lead and provide support to restore service, identify root cause and implement solutions to prevent recurrences.
  • Responsible for managing Incident and Service Requests and ensure they are completed within the assigned Service Level Agreements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement enhancements to improve/maintain performance/productivity at acceptable levels.
  • Partner with Developers, System and Network administrators to support and improve server performance and stability acting in an advisory capacity with regards to specifications related to server related administration.
  • Participates in the on-call production support rotation and may occasionally be required to work hours outside of the traditional work schedule.
  • Mentor and coach Systems Engineers providing technical leadership for the team.


Minimum Requirements

  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production computing environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Server Operating System and related technologies including Active Directory and Citrix.
  • Strong Microsoft Windows Server Operating System and VMWARE ESXi skills with hands-on experience in successful troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience supporting servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make effective technical decisions to restore service and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Professional qualifications such as MCSE, CCNA, VCP
  • Strong communication skills to effectively share information in a team environment.
  • Strong team player capable of working with various teams both in IT and outside of IT.
  • Strong technical leadership skills to provide direction on strategies and to coach others.
