The SecOps team has a Security Operations Engineer function at Peapod Digital Labs which is responsible for providing day to day security support to the overall business. The SecOps Engineer will have an understanding of Endpoint Security, Vulnerability Management, Security applications and supporting them, alert and monitoring, cloud technology, secure architecture, and more to support a high degree of operational reliability. Will understands automation and how it is best applied to reach a continuous delivery goal. The Engineer will be working alongside other members of the SecOps Team as well as Global Cyber Defense in order to provide Security as a Service.
We use a combination of managed and self-hosted approaches. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the engineering organization in areas of standardized automated infrastructure and service provisioning and orchestration, service-oriented architectural excellence, and forward thinking planning and execution of large technical projects.
Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role
- Experience supporting day to day security operations
- Experience supporting and deploying security tools via automation or manually when needed
- Endpoint Security and encryption tooling knowledge
- Assist with peer reviews and engage in conversations related to security enhancements to ensure secure design is used
- Contribute to documentation and secure playbooks
- Configure secure routing over Site to Site connections and VPN
- Vulnerability management on Apple, Linux, Windows, and Networking equipment
- Collaborating with SREs and engineers across development teams while also performing hands-on work on the most critical challenges
- Knowledge of network and system level attacks and mitigation methods
- Aid in investigating and triaging incidents
- Build a metrics-driven operational culture standardizing our practices and review as well as for logging, monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices
- Knowledge of scripting languages and formats used
- Partner closely with Development, Security, Quality, Operations and Product teams to achieve high priority security, privacy, compliance, reliability and business-continuity objectives on our overall roadmap
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
- You have 3+ years experience in a SOC or Security Operations role
- You have proven experience (3+ years) demonstrating hands-on technical knowledge supporting enterprises users and services
- You have technical experience with various cloud providers, integrating containerization technologies, automated deployment frameworks, orchestration frameworks, monitoring, logging, alerting, system internals, networking, databases, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture
- You have the skills to identify risk based on conversational design methods
- You promote openness, diversity of opinions and inclusive discussions at all times to evaluate a wide variety of ideas and perspectives in solving challenging problems
- You demonstrate clear decision making and good trade-offs in complex situations comprising multiple opinions, needs, teams, technologies, cloud providers, and architectural settings
- You communicate effectively with stakeholders ranging from executives to junior engineers across the breadth and depth of the engineering organization
- You exemplify high accountability, integrity, and resilience to maintain focus on both big-picture goals and milestones to get there
- You enable the engineering organization to innovate and deliver with greater speed and safety
- Experience with supporting automation tools similar, but not limited to: Jenkins, Terraform, and SALT
- Experience with Azure, networking, NGAV, EDR, Kubernetes (AKS), VMWare, Splunk, Containers, Python, JavaScript, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Linux, Windows, Apple
- Participate in on call rotation
