Company background:

AMP Americas is a pioneer in the renewable energy industry.  The Company has developed and owns three dairy RNG projects, as well as twenty CNG fueling stations primarily serving heavy-duty truck fleets.  AMP continues to fulfill its mission of building RNG projects and developing commercial models to convert farm, industrial and municipal waste into sustainable sources of transportation fuel.  Since 2011, we have displaced over ~324,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (32 million gallons of diesel fuel).  In 2018 alone, we displaced 83,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (8 million gallons of diesel fuel) which is equivalent to taking over 18,000 cars off the road or planting over 98,000 acres of forest. That's a forest the size of Detroit, Denver, or Philadelphia!

Role summary:

The Controller is a key member of the accounting and finance team and reports to the CFO. The Controller is responsible for all accounting operations and will manage a team of 2-3 individuals. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the general accounting function, including the monthly close process and financial reporting including analysis vs budget/forecast
  • Oversees all ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Review financial controls, policies, procedures, and implements enhancements to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company’s operations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Own and manage the annual external audit and ad-hoc regulatory audit processes.
  • Assist in the negotiation and structuring of arrangements with vendors
  • Support the CFO in other functional accounting/finance areas, including but not limited to, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, debt covenant reporting and Board reporting
  • Manages and provides leadership and developmental opportunities for direct reports including mentoring, training, and work assignments
  • Provides guidance on goals and objectives through clear and constructive feedback to team

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 4-8 years relevant experience
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively and multi-task is critical
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals at all levels
  • Must have an aptitude for solving problems independently and an interest in renewable energy
