Role Summary: 

The Controller is an integral part of the Landrace Financial LLC team and is excited to be at the forefront of the constantly evolving cannabis market. This person thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to successfully multi-task across a wide variety of disciplines and roles. The Controller is equally comfortable preparing and reviewing financial statements and communicating with borrowers and senior management as they are managing internal administrative functions. The Controller constantly demonstrates a willingness to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is necessary to move the company forward and exhibits an attention to detail and a strong moral and ethical compass. The Controller should also constantly be scrutinizing how current processes are functioning and whether improvements can be made. While reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will need to work across functions, including, but not limited to, the credit and underwriting team, and will manage one individual.

We understand financial challenges faced by companies having difficulty accessing capital though traditional sources. Through Landrace Financial LLC, we can provide customized sale-leaseback, capital lease, term loan and other structured transactions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the general accounting function, including the monthly close and financial reporting processes
  • Maintain books and records of all entities according to GAAP (and IFRS where necessary) including booking basic accruals on monthly and annual basis for multiple entities and types of entities including GP entities
  • Serve as the primary interface for all external accounting teams including audit, tax, and financial consultants
  • Optimize operational accounting processes by leveraging systems to automate and streamline close procedures
  • Drive systems implementation, adoption and continuous improvement across business applications to maximize efficiencies throughout the company
  • Maintain amortization schedules and detailed loan files for each borrower, including tracking payments due to partners, and oversee external loan administrator
  • Support the CFO in other functional accounting/finance areas, including but not limited to, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, debt covenant reporting and Board reporting
  • Supervise Operations Manager who has a wide range of responsibilities across HR, Operations, and Accounting and willingness to supervise others as team grows 
  • Perform similar job duties as above for sister entity

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4-8 years relevant experience
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Financial services experience, preferably in leveraged lending or hedge funds & private equity
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks or  a similar accounting / ERP system
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively and multi-task is critical
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals at all levels
  • Must have an aptitude for solving problems independently
