Ready to have a direct impact on the financial success of a public company?

You're a sharp and savvy finance professional, so why not guide an entire team or department on their financial success? At Groupon, you have the chance to learn a business group from the bottom up, so you never have to wonder about whether or not your work matters.

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

Global Finance is a conglomeration of number-savvy professionals who encompass multiple teams, ensuring everything from our month-end close processes to our P&L ownership and SG&A are on point. You will play a meaningful role in the global forecasting and planning process. These teammates produce timely, accurate reporting and customized financial analysis to support management decisions. Your work will directly impact the success of teams within Groupon, ensuring that they have financial strength to build our mission.

Within our FP&A group, we act as internal consultants with VP-level business leaders across the organization to understand the ins and outs of a specific business unit. Through focusing on two main areas—controllership and business support—we ensure the success of the business while maximizing profit for each group they work with. You will have the opportunity to be integrated within a business unit, providing valuable financial insight and recommendations to your team. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop a deep understanding of our business, providing you with a unique insight into how our company operates.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Develop accurate financial forecasts and targets, tracking, and reporting, analyzing actual performance and identify drivers behind performance

  • Support the development of key initiatives to drive performance as well as support the VP’s in controlling costs

  • Work with partners to strategize and report on performance

  • Find opportunities to help the business with financial analysis in implementing and tracking these opportunities

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating plan by engaging with VPs to build appropriate plans and targets and convert this into the financial budget

  • Complete a quarterly forecast for all supported countries, including explaining variances and supporting the VP in closing any gaps to target

  • Work with the VP and their teams to track the weekly outlook and collect key changes to integrate into the internal pacing process

  • Complete analysis on the P&L each month to explain and communicate key performance drivers and variances to plan and prior year

  • Develop and sign off any business cases relating to initiatives within your business area to support the improvement of business performance

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or related degree

  • 5 years of experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or another related field

  • High comfort level with Microsoft Excel and SQL

  • You love nurturing business partnerships with senior individuals and teams

  • You can think critically about business challenges while simultaneously absorbing new knowledge and information

  • Your energy is contagious and you have a passion for results and love getting into the details

  • You thrive in a dynamic startup environment and can navigate the ambiguities that come with it

  • Bonus points for familiarity with ecommerce or retail environments

Groupon provides a global marketplace where people can buy just about anything, anywhere, anytime. We’re enabling real-time commerce across an expanding range of categories including local businesses, travel destinations, consumer products, and live or lively events. At the same time, we are providing advertising options and tools that merchants can use to grow and manage their businesses. Culturally, we believe that great people make great companies and that starting with the customer and working backward moves us forward. Community matters to us on an internal, local and global scale—it’s fundamental to our company’s growth and to the well-being of the world at large. We also value self-awareness, candor, lunch and WiFi. If we match with you, please apply to join us.
