Groupon Finance prioritizes cost optimization efforts in consultation with internal stakeholders and strategic vendors across all company spend. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to cost optimization, combining procurement expertise, industry knowledge, and financial acumen. We drive the organization's focus in adapting to upcoming opportunities and challenges in the market.

 

We are searching for a tenacious and analytical Strategic Sourcing Manager, Technology to join our team. You will be responsible for optimizing costs and helping to run the category spend related to tech procurement. You will ensure Groupon selects and manages cost-effective and innovative suppliers who support our efforts to redefine local commerce. This role will support the Senior Manager, Cost Optimization to perform financial analysis, client partner management, supplier performance management, continuous cost and performance improvement activities.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • You will work with financial data to determine total cost of ownership to inform various business decisions

  • You will conduct research and discover how market conditions could holistically affect the organization

  • Project manage procurement led initiatives; take notes and follow up on meeting action items

  • Perform interviews and co-facilitate supplier and business partner meetings

  • Analyze market, customer requirements, pricing, category etc. to recommend the appropriate business strategy

  • Combine analysis from financial and human resources data sources to request supplier quotes and to develop RFPs that yield continuous cost improvements

  • Communicate to leaders, customers and project teams on progress, barriers, results, and new opportunities

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations

  • Work with Legal and Information Security to minimize vendor risks across financial, operational, and regulatory topics

  • You will develop metrics and critical metrics to measure vendor performance

  • Maintain vendor scorecards and dashboards to aid with company-wide vendor management efforts

 

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Management, Supply Chain Management or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in cost optimization, buying or procurement-related role

  • Advanced understanding of vendor management, commercial finance and accounting

  • Familiarity with engineering, data center, e-commerce technology and SaaS providers

  • Critical thinker regarding business challenges while simultaneously absorbing new knowledge and information

  • A contagious energy, a passion for results and love getting into the details

  • Thrive in a dynamic startup environment and can navigate the ambiguities that come with it
