Global Tax Manager

Working alongside talented and passionate people, you will manage the North America tax function and the global tax accounting process. Leveraging external experience, best practices, technology and innovation you will help drive enhancements to the existing tax function to support continuous and sustainable growth. You will work collaboratively and innovatively with the North America and Global Finance teams to enable them to meet their deadlines in the most efficient manner while also managing the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. This role reports directly to the Global Tax Director and is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
The Global Tax Manager will act as a partner to the Global Tax Director and to the business, providing high quality financial and tax information for decision making. Specific responsibilities include:
Domestic
- Manage US and Canada tax compliance (direct and indirect), including preparation of workpapers and other necessary documentation for external tax preparers
- Ensure all US information reporting is prepared and submitted timely - will require regular communication with external tax consultants and senior management
- Work directly with the Tax Director to prepare the US and Canada tax provisions, including evaluation of foreign tax credit and interest limitations, review of valuation allowance positions, and tracking other attributes such as E&P, tax pools, NOLs and R&D credits
- Assist Tax Director with evaluation of US tax reform and its short and long-term impact
- Collaborate with software developers and external tax consultants to prepare Research & Development credit studies
- Manage US and Canada government audits and tax controversy
Foreign
- Work directly with the Regional Finance Leads to prepare and consolidate the foreign tax provisions, including evaluation of tax attributes such as NOLs and R&D credits
- Collaborate with the Tax Director and Regional Finance Leads to develop a global tax governance report to share with corporate stakeholders
- Assist Tax Director to establish processes and procedures for the global tax accounting function
- Drive review of transfer pricing methodologies in each jurisdiction, including analysis of current policies and forecasting margins and cash taxes
- Collaborate with external tax consultants to prepare OECD transfer pricing reports
- Act as the point person to Regional Finance Leads for global transfer pricing controversy, inquiries, and intercompany reporting – will require working knowledge of OECD transfer pricing principles and interpretation of income tax treaties
- Assist Tax Director with tax analysis, research, and various tax projects as needed
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of tax compliance experience
- Minimum 2 years of tax provision experience
- Public accounting experience preferred
Skills
- Understanding of U.S. Internal Revenue Code, including ability to research tax technical issues and write technical memorandums
- Understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically the application of ASC 740 standards
- Proficiency in tax research software
- Proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas)
- Strong analytical skill-set

Education
- Certified Public Accountant
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting
- Master's Degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.
