Primary Responsibilities

The Payroll Manager at KeHE, is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the payroll team and reports to the Director of Payroll and Shared Services. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll management and administration skills. Essential Functions

  • Leads and provides guidance to the payroll team.
  • Maintaining employee records, including all deductions, exemptions, pay rate changes, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) classifications, and extra payments such as bonuses and commissions.
  • Enforces consistent procedures and policies resulting in accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Manage and guarantee the processes of weekly & bi-weekly / multi-state payroll disbursement.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
  • Assist in generating and processing all calendar year end, fiscal year end information, including but not limited to W-2s.
  • Create and provide various wage related reports upon request.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Provide payroll reporting for workers compensation compliance.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and processing one-off reimbursements.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or other field which is directly applicable to the position is preferred. Combination of education and related experience will be considered.
  • 5 years' experience working in a multi-state payroll department.
  • FPC or higher payroll certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising payroll teams.
  • Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables and V-lookup, etc).
  • Experience and proficiency in UKG (formerly UltiPro) payroll system is preferred. Other payroll software system experience will also be considered.
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and assure compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures.
