Title: Project & Payroll Accountant

Location: Chicago

We are looking for a Project and Payroll Accountant who will oversee and manage payroll processing & 401(k) administration. This role will also be responsible for supporting various on-going projects and initiatives within our Finance group.

What you’ll do:

  • Demonstrate high level of ownership and precision in processing a semi-monthly payroll
  • Support/resolve employee payroll and 401(k) questions in timely and effective manner
  • Identify system improvements and process improvements as it relates to on-going projects & initiatives
  • Develop and maintain user instructions, procedures and documentation for payroll, 401(k) and special projects
  • Establish comprehensive understanding of our 401(k) plan and conduct basic calculations
  • Demonstrate high level of professionalism when handling sensitive employee information
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll and 401(k) data to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor and analyze travel and recruiting expenses
  • Prepare various accruals and journal entries to support month-end close deliverables
  • Prepare schedules and collaborate with external parties to support financial statement audits
  • Cross-train with other finance team members periodically
  • Assist with general ledger and reporting implementation projects
  • Support Finance team with various ad-hoc projects
  • Partner with HR team to support on-going initiatives, streamline processes, etc.
  • Track and manage company credit card expenses, charitable contributions and tuition reimbursements
  • Maintain and develop candidate reimbursement process & policies
  • Assist with annual budget and quarterly reforecasting

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years experience in related role
  • Must have experience processing payroll with ADP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Experience with Fidelity is a plus
  • Demonstrates understanding of Federal, State, and Local payroll regulations
