At Groupon, Accounting isn’t your typical month-end close type of department. While we’re focused on providing financial information to the business, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. We’re building out financial systems to support every new business line and product, so our Accountants get a granular view and understanding of how a business is built from the ground up. The knowledge to gain is vast, as is the potential of our organization to continue growing.

 

This position will be responsible for the monthly close and will assist in various adhoc accounting projects throughout the month.  This position reports to the Controller of Getaways.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the monthly close (journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and transaction/account analysis)
  • Participates in reporting packages (rollforwards, P&L fluctuation analysis, Balance Sheet analysis)
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with the internal control process
  • Seeks solutions for accounting problems before presenting them to manager
  • Participates in preliminary analysis of financial reports, interprets financial results, and alerts management of significant problems
  • Position will collaborate with accounting team in Americas

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Positive attitude
  • Detail oriented and a focus on accuracy
  • Knowledge of and experience using Great Plaines.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC computer environments with skill in applications such as Microsoft Office
  • Strong action/results orientation with the ability to work independently and be self-motivated and proactive in achieving individual/team objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to articulate views convincingly
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
  • Ability to be adaptable/flexible and operate effectively in an unstructured environment
