You’ll take on the role of our detailed and customer-focused Senior Accountant and work as a member of the accounting team to lead improvements in accounting processes, controls, and financial reporting functions of the company.
What you’ll be doing:
- The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the accounting team, responsible for month-end close procedures, internal and external reporting, policy and process development and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records and financial reporting. Specific responsibilities include:
- Prepare or review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, cash application and expense coding
- Develop technical accounting policies and operational procedures to ensure consistent and accurate GAAP reporting
- Review contracts for appropriate revenue recognition
- Technical accounting areas - revenue recognition, internally developed software, stock based compensation, and external financial reporting
- Collect, process and present accurate financial data
- Report on monthly P&L and balance sheet variances
- Implementation of new accounting systems and technology
- Build, maintain, and improve financial schedules and templates
- Drive implementation of improved controls and processes
- Support business processes and the enforcement of company policies
- General ledger and accounting system maintenance
- Support financial statement audits, tax and regulatory compliance
- Provide excellent customer service to employees, vendors and customers
- Working 100% remote from anywhere in the US, or with your colleagues at our Chicago offices.
What we’re looking for:
- The successful candidate will bring strong accounting experience and technical knowledge, along with a consultative and process-oriented approach to help us successfully scale to meet the company’s dynamic growth.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA preferred (or actively pursuing CPA)
- 3+ years of experience - preference for some public accounting experience
- Prefer strong technical accounting experiences across ASC 606, internally developed software, stock based compensation accounting and external reporting
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Advanced accounting and reporting skills
- Ability to learn quickly and problem solve
- Growth mindset and proven record of process improvement
- Very detail oriented and organized individual with the aptitude to succeed in a high growth, dynamic environment
- Effective communicator, collaborator and team member
