Responsible for reporting and analysis for the Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) Finance team. In coordination with others on the NTAM Finance team, analyze monthly and quarterly results, research variances, and study trends to inform forecasting and business decisions.

Knowledge/Skills:

The role requires familiarity with finance and accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Within the Finance team, this role will have a particular focus on data and analytics, identifying opportunities to increase the team's productivity and provide more value-add insights to the business through process improvement and utilization of BI tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the monthly reporting process, preparing analyses of results relative to prior year, prior month, and budget, focusing on drivers of financial performance
  • Conduct special projects to support business unit and/or Corporate Finance objectives, including the annual profit plan
  • Define and convey insightful metrics, analyze relevant factors, and develop forecasting models to measure key strategic, operational, and tactical business decisions
  • Support day-to-day ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • Implement disciplined processes to augment reporting capabilities through enhanced rigor, engagement, and consistency

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degrees in Finance or Accounting preferred, though others will be considered
  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience in a financial analyst role; business analyst or management consulting experience within asset management industry also considered
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required; Technical aptitude and proficiency with BI tools and/or financial applications (COGNOS, Hyperion, TM1, Tableau, PowerBI) a plus
  • Keen attention to detail, sense of urgency and a creative mindset
  • Passionate working with data and developing business measurement solutions
  • Ability to prioritize requests and concurrently manage multiple projects with minimal oversight
  • Proactive and action oriented, with strong analytical skills and ability for problem solving
  • Experience in developing management reports/updates and presenting to Management
  • Experience with the Asset Management or Wealth Management business is a plus
  • Previous experience driving strategic and tactical process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Solid oral and written communication/presentation skills
