The Senior Accountant will assist with Syndigo’s accounting, control, financial reporting and financial planning. This position will maintain the general ledger, ensure data integrity, monitor accounting policy and help implement key financial processes. The ideal candidate will be attracted to an entrepreneurial and rapidly growing business that will challenge them professionally.

This role will report to the accounting manager and be based in Syndigo’s Lisle office.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare general journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations, ensure reconciliations are prepared and reconciling items are resolved timely
  • Analyze financial information and spot errors using trends and flux analysis
  • Fixed asset and intangible processing and reporting
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Work in tandem with other staff to reconcile and adjust intercompany balances
  • Plan, assign and review staff accountant’s work
  • Assist in external audits
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Suggest ways to improve efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications and Requirements

  • Driven, high energy individual with the ability and desire to work under pressure and deliver timely and accurate results
  • Critical thinker that can use accounting knowledge and professional expertise to design process improvements and communicate with team members
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • Must have at least 4 years’ experience
