Cars.com is seeking a Staff Accountant on a long-term basis who can grow with the company. We offer employees opportunities to increase their skill sets and marketability as accounting professionals. Cars.com recently became a stand-alone public company in June 2017. Employees will gain experience navigating the new processes and procedures required for a public company including re-aligning financial reporting and helping with SEC public filings. This position reports to the Financial Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Tie-out and review SEC filings such as the 10-Q and 10-K reports
- Perform ad hoc reports and analysis for the Controller and CFO, and other projects as needed
- Support external financial audit requests
- Coordinate with internal audit team on Sarbanes-Oxley testing and other internal control improvements and documentation
- Prepare and record journal entries related to assigned departments which includes reviewing and preparing analysis to support journal entries
- Prepare monthly reconciliations
- Create process documentation for new and existing processes

- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team
- Strong computer skills including Word and Excel, including complex excel formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups and linked files
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 0-2 years of accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or plans to sit for the CPA
