Our company is growing and we are excited to expand our Finance Team by adding a Staff Accountant! This role will work closely with our Finance Manager, and will get exposure to exciting aspects of the accounting field, including accounting for multiple subsidiaries and other nuanced accounting functions. The role will be crucial to helping us accomplish our goals, for example reducing the time it takes to pay a trader from an average of 7 days to 2 days. The Staff Accountant will be trusted with the important day-to-day accounting responsibilities, including issuing payments to our traders, managing chargebacks, as well as ensuring that our brokerage balances are constantly replenished. We’re hoping to find someone who is motivated by autonomy and the passion to deepen their knowledge and skills in the accounting field.

The successful candidate will also have a genuine enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and be able to excel in a fast-paced, high energy start-up environment.

The Role, along with everything you’d expect

  • The Staff Accountant role is an ideal opportunity to learn the ropes within a growing financial tech company
  • The role is also a great fit for candidates who are looking for a well-defined, limited-scope accounting role working with a great team
  • The Staff Accountant will work closely with our experienced CEO and energetic CVO
  • In collaboration with the Finance Manager, work to achieve an accurate and timely month-end close across all entities
  • The role will also be charged with keeping organized all Accounts Payable, reimbursement, and corporate card management
  • Unexpected opportunities may arise, so you’ll need to be flexible and able to adapt quickly

The Ideal Candidate

  • GAAP knowledge is a must. We’ll be here to support you as you see how these are applied to an actual company, if you don’t have that experience 
  • Organizational skills. We need someone who will work independently once trained and we can’t stress enough how important organization is to keeping all aspects running smoothly
  • Microsoft Excel proficient. Either you already know all of the ins and outs of MS Excel as it applies to general accounting needs, or you’re comfortable enough in Excel to learn quickly
  • Critical eye. As a company, we move quickly and always have multiple priorities, so we need someone who will notice when something doesn’t add up, and raise that
  • Self starter. As a two person team, there will always be something more to do, and we’re looking for a true team player
  • Desire to work in accounting. This may seem obvious, but if you have a passion for accounting, we think you’re more likely to be innovative when problems arise, and maintain interest in the position with a critical eye and a great attitude.
  • Smart and approachable. You’ll get questions and requests from across the organization and will be expected to help appropriately
