What We Are Looking For:

The VP of Payor Relations is responsible for developing and implementing payor strategy for payor reimbursement for private (e.g. health plans, employer-sponsored), self-funded employers, and governmental payors.

The VP is responsible for developing and managing the IDx payor strategy and relations, including network development, biannual payor contract reviews and keeping IDx leadership informed of market changes that may impact the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and implementing new payor reimbursement models such as total cost of care (TCOC), pay for performance, bundling, etc., based on accountability, value and working with private and government payors to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
The VP of Payor Relations is also responsible for researching, developing and recommending new sources of revenue to support the organizations overall system contracting, payor/employer relations, contract compliance and contract administration. This role demonstrates a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with other departments and co-workers, providers and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Negotiating contracts including key operating terms and provisions with commercial payors as well as contributing to strategy development and negotiations in collaboration with our network
  • Developing new payment and reimbursement models to improve cost savings and revenue growth including value-based care models, joint venture strategies, and risk-based care models with physician groups, healthcare systems and/or payors
  • Directing and maintaining relationships with key executive leaders with all regional and national payors relevant to our business footprint to ensure that IDx’s position with payors remains optimal and that IDx is positioned strategically with key relationships across its payor network
  • Leading resolutions to operational issues within the billing and collections office related to collections, billing and credentialing
  • Establishing, monitoring and leading local/regional/executive leadership in achieving national and market-specific payor metrics
  • Contributing to strategy development and negotiations with self-funded employer groups to support the company’s direct-to-employer initiatives
  • Distinguishing between business and legal decisions and engaging with appropriate internal stakeholders to resolve both
  • Building predictive financial models to evaluate operating plans for new and/or existing markets based on evolving reimbursement terms
  • Participating in industry and/or community organizations to help advance the company’s brand and grow our network of financial partners

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Business, , Finance, Accounting, HCA or a related field
  • 5+ years of Payor or Provider contracting, and federal reimbursement experience required
  • Extensive experience in value-based care contracting and plan development, capitation, shared savings plan development, risk sharing models, ACOs, CINs, and other progressive payment models
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills; able to engage with all levels of an organization
  • Hospital, ASC and Physician reimbursement experience essential
  • Pays strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and exercise independent judgment on matters of significance.
  • Strong empathy for customers and passion for revenue growth
  • Proficiency in analyzing, understanding and communication financial trends
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement
  • Enthusiastic and creative leader with ability to inspire others
  • Willingness to travel as needed, estimated up to 50%
